Nació en Saint George el 1 de septiembre de 1992. Desde niño se destacó en las pruebas de 200 y 400 metros planos. Sorprendió al mundo en el 2011, cuando en el XIII Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo celebrado en Daegu, Corea del Sur, ganó la prueba de 400 metros con tan solo 18 años, el campeón más joven de la historia en esa especialidad. El año siguiente fue coronado en los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres, otorgando a Granada la primera medalla olímpica de su historia. A finales de 2012, la Commonwealth of Nations le otorgó el premio "Atleta Masculino del Año". Cuatro años después, ganó la medalla de plata en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río de Janeiro 2016. He was born in Saint George on September 1, 1992. Since he was a child, he excelled in the 200 and 400 meter flat tests. He surprised the world in 2011, when in the XIII World Athletics Championships held in Daegu, South Korea, he won the 400 meter event with only 18 years, the youngest champion in history in that specialty.
The following year he was crowned at the Olympic Games in London, giving Granada the first Olympic medal in its history.
